Haines, John
Biography
John Haines is a global missionary with the Church of the Nazarene serving in Switzerland.
He received missionary appointment as a specialized assignment missionary to serve as the Administrative Assistant for the Eurasia Regional office in Bolton, England in 1985. He transferred to Schaffhausen, Switzerland, with the relocation of the regional office to that city in 1990. He was granted a global contract in February 1992. In addition to his duties in the regional office, he served as the Northern Europe Field Director, and is presently serving as Regional Education Coordinator, and Regional Literature Development Coordinator.
John was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. He received the B.A. degree in Religion, and the M.A. degree in Old Testament from Southern Nazarene University, in Bethany, Oklahoma, in 1976 and 1977. He received the M.Div. degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1980. He received ordination from the British Isles South district in 1982. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Education and Religious Studies through the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
Prior to his current assignment, he served as an associate in youth and music, and as pastor for ten years in Britain. He taught voice at Nazarene Theological College in Manchester, England. During his pastoral work, he served as NYI vice-president and as Chairman of the Board of Home Missions on the British Isles South district.
