Gruver, Beverly
Biography
Beverly Gruver is a global missionary with the Church of the Nazarene assigned to Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary located just outside Metro Manila in the Philippines. She is assistant professor of English, primarily teaching English as a second language to speakers of other languages.
Because the common language of the seminary is English, students need to be able to do graduate level academic work in English. Students come to the seminary from the various countries of the Asia Pacific Region.
Professor Gruver also teaches specific courses to help prepare those who hope to use the teaching of English as a ministry tool.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Beverly is the dean of students. She also serves as mentor to the single women students. She has been in this assignment since January of 1997. At the close of the 2009/2010 school year Beverly will return to her home country for a year of home ministry assignment prior to retirement from World Mission.
Beverly received Bachelor’s degrees from Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, and from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. She received her master of education degree from the University of Oklahoma and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Education at the University of Kansas.
Her previous assignments include teaching high school English at Alliance Academy in Quito, Ecuador, South America, and assisting with the pastoral training by extension program in Paraguay, South America. She is also the mother of three grown children and has seven grandchildren.
