Walker, Rich and Bonnie

Biography

Rich and Bonnie Walker are ordinary people with an inordinately cool dog. After getting married they lived and worked in Minneapolis for 10 years before discovering that Rich's education in finance and extensive experience in information technology (or "geekdom," as Rich calls it) was needed in the South America Regional Office. After keeping the Pilar, Argentina restaurants and nearby bowling alleys in business for four years, they accepted their current assignment at the Eurasia Regional Office in Switzerland, where they have been neighbors to several Afghanistan-born camels since their arrival in April 2007.

Rich graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a B.A. in Accounting and Business Administration. He currently directs Information Technology for the Eurasia Regional Office and European Nazarene College. Bonnie graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a B.A. in Communication and Human Relations.  She assists the Regional Director with e-mail, travel and special projects, and does the administration for the Jesus Film ministry for the region.

Peso, named as a Spanish homage to the dog in the "Richie Rich" cartoon runs away whenever the opportunity presents itself. After several undocumented hours of frolicking, the four-year-old yellow lab has, so far, always come home.

Rich has a penchant for chunky peanut butter, trendy cameras and expensive bicycles bought at deep discounts. Bonnie's tastes in toys are generally less expensive than Rich's, but she has been known to enjoy Rich's toys when his back is turned.  She likes to swim and bike and play in the snow.  She has recently discovered knitting, likes to sew and cross-stitch, but rarely finishes a project, and is not nearly as much of a homemaker as that may sound.  They may be the only missionaries in the world who in 2005 turned missionary services into a game show by using an interactive version of “Jeopardy” to share their experiences—No news yet of their plans for the next home assignment.
