Shalley, Michael and Julie
Biography
Mike and Julie Shalley were appointed global missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene to the Republic of South Africa in 1979. In 1984 the Shalleys were transferred to Namibia, where they have been working every since.
Mike received his B.A. from Olivet Nazarene University in 1971 and his M.A. in Missiology from Nazarene Theological Seminary in 1980. He received a D.Div. from LAEL College and Graduate School in 2000.
Mike received his call to missions at the age of 12. Julie received her call in 1973 while they were pastoring.
Prior to their missionary appointment to the Republic of South Africa and later Namibia, the Shalleys pastored in Indiana for five years.
During the years 1984-1994, the Shalleys lived in the capital city of Namibia, Windhoek. While in Windhoek, they served the church as Mission Director, District Superintendent, church planters and pastor.
Upon their return to Namibia in 1994, the Shalleys have been pioneering the work of the church in the north of the country. They have been responsible for church development, leadership training as well as District Superintendent and outreach programs among the interesting, diverse and culturally varied peoples of this region. The missionary service will focus on the exciting and ever changing ministry of one of the most unique areas of Southern Africa.
The Shalleys have two children: Heather and Adam.
